I Was Here: Malpe Beach

Malpe Beach

After a tiring bike ride 450 KMs on the previous day, I was here roaming around on Malpe beach on a Sunday morning. The beach was void of tourists. Only people on the beach other than us were the fishermen returning home. A group of fishermen were hauling the boat back to the shore. Their ladies helping them in folding the nets and other small odd works. Though tired, there was a sort of contentedness in their faces.

It was almost three years ago in 2008. Here is the link to the posts on various places I visited over 4 days of bike trip covering 1200 KMs.

I Was Here: Agumbe

Agumbe

Driving around the western ghats, I was here at Agumbe on a cloudy evening. Visiting this place during October and chances of getting a glimpse of the beautiful sunset is very less. I was there at the right time, but only to see the Sun hiding behind the clouds.

Here are some glimpses of the sunset which I captured during my visit in March 2008.

I Was Here: Achchalu Betta

Achchalu Betta

When you travel south of Bangalore on Kanakapura road for 40 odd kilometers, you get to see plenty of small hillocks scattered all over. I went on a day trip way back in 2007 to one such hillock which is around 15 KMs after Kanakapura. Achchalu Betta, is right next to a small village of the same name.

There are many more such hillocks which I’m yet to visit. To name a few are Kabbal Durga on kanakapura road, Hemagiri betta & Kumbhi betta near Huliyur durga, Huttari durga & Kalya betta near Magadi, Ramadevara betta & Nijagal betta on Tumkur road, Kunti betta near Pandavapura – and the list goes on and on and on… :)

I Was Here: Irpu Falls

My first visit to Irpu Falls was in October 2007, during a two-day bike ride in Coorg. I was there again this April. There were quite considerable changes between these two visits – prominent being the amount of water. My first visit was just after the monsoon & the latest being in the middle of summer.

Irpu falls
One other major change was the man-made metal ramp below the falls. So that people can walk right under the falls & enjoy the water. That means more people visiting the place, more litter and complete loss of tranquility.

Irpu falls
First visit to Irpu falls was on motorbike and second in a four wheeler. Hope to visit the place next time on my bicycle :)

PS: First photo was taken in Oct’07 and second in Apr’10
