I Was Here: Kavishaila
Jan 23, 2012 I Was Here

Kavishaila is a rock monument dedicated to Kuvempu, one of the greatest literary giants of Karnataka. More than a monument, its the place which inspired Kuvempu to give us the wonderful pieces of Kannada literature. It is on a small hillock right next to his childhood home Kuppalli. Kavishaila is also the place where Kuvempu and his son Poornachandra Tejaswi, a famous Kannada writer himself were laid to rest.
And in case if you are plannign a visit to Kuppalli, here are few near by places of interests – Kundadri, Mandagadde bird sanctuary, Agumbe, Sringeri.

I Was Here: Mattu beach
Sep 19, 2011 I Was Here

I was in Mattu beach in first week of March 2008 during my bike ride to West coast. I was not aware of the name of the beach when I visited and quite recently got to know that it’s called as Mattu beach.
More about the place here.

I Was Here: Markonahalli Dam
May 25, 2011 I Was Here

Markonahalli, always reminds me of my childhood. A small dam built across the river Shimsha near Kunigal taluk, is very close to Huliyurdurga where I grew up. One of our favorite picnic spot (Deepambudhi and Kumbhi betta were others), where we used to spend whole day playing the water or in the park.

I Was Here: Shivanasamudra
Apr 24, 2011 I Was Here, Karnataka, Water falls

April, summer, Sun was at his best with temeprature soaring. Best time to visit a water fall (a smaller and safer to take a dip is a better choice). But still I was in Shivanasamudra (Gaganachukki and Bharachukki falls). First ride out of the town and to visit a place near by in a day being the plan took me to Shivanasamudra. Being known for not safe to get into the water, taking a dip was not at all in the agenda. With the blazing sun and when a local shop keeper told us about a plae where it is safe to get into water, it was an opportunity not to be missed.
That first bike trip to Shivanasamudra was five years ago which made me start this travel blog. Here is my account of that bike trip.
